WTF just happened on my tele?

Sorry if I'm being thick but This has baffled me. I'm about to go out but I thought I'd catch pop master on the box. So obviously a blank screen ,you just listen . About five minutes in I've lost the sound ,it came back on after about a minute but the screen was a frame of someones kitchen ,or at least one side shoeing surfaces oven and sink with a view out the back door showing some plants and small section of garden. I turned over ,turned back and screen was back to normal ,blank with radio 2 music . Weird huh? So whilst I'm on the subject can someone explain something else . Upstairs I have a small tele on the wall in my bedroom .I sometimes flick it on in the night ifbi wake up . If I turn the tv off as usual with the remote I get left with the red stand by light in the bottom corner . If I also switch the same tele off at the wall obviously the stand by light goes off after a few seconds ,but every 15 minutes or so it will flash almost like a camera. (the stand by light I mean,but not red,a normal flash and a slight sound ) this baffles me as there's no electricity going to it .
I'm off out now so I'll read my you dumb fuck Lab replies later.

Quite. One of the things that you never do twice.
Did that when I built my first bass amp from a kit. First time I switched it on realised that there was a dry joint in the power supply wiring as the switch didn't light up Switch it off and tried to find out where it was by poking about with a multimeter.
Next thing I knew I was flat on my back the end of the room.
